Why I Never Recommend Fancy Curriculum Software

I'm often asked why I don't push districts toward specialized curriculum platforms. The answer is simple: the best system is the one teachers will actually use.

Google Sheets is free, collaborative, and requires zero IT approval. It's low-tech, high-impact — and it means the barrier to starting is a blank tab, not a procurement form.

That's what one teacher told me after just 45 minutes of building her dashboard.

Forty-five minutes. Not a summer. Not a semester. We need to provide easier, faster approaches for teachers if we want them to stay.
